Welcome to Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School

As we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, the Cariboo-Chilcotin School District stands alongside First Nations communities. We are honoured to be on the unceded territories of the Secwepemc, Tsilhqot’in and Dakelh Nations as we strive to address the historic wrongs and generational impact of the residential school system. We recognize that reconciliation is not a single day of reflection, but an ongoing responsibility that calls on all of us to learn, listen, build understanding, and take action.

When Indigenous peoples experience acts, messages, or attitudes that undermine inclusion, respect, and belonging, it is important to reaffirm our commitment to standing together. We reject racism, discrimination, and hatred in all forms and support the right of every person to feel safe, valued, and respected in their school and community.

Our district remains committed to advancing reconciliation through meaningful relationships, learning, and action. Our students experience local First Nations language and culture and all of us are growing in our understanding and practices for anti-racism and inclusion. We are grateful for the leadership, knowledge, and partnership of First Nations communities and continue to work together to create learning environments that honour Indigenous histories, cultures, languages, and ways of knowing.

As we mark Truth and Reconciliation Day, we encourage students, staff, families, and community members to be visible at local observances and events to show our care for one another. Together, we can help ensure that our schools and communities are places where everyone belongs.
